Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in specific - caused him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.

Now training with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's first championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court since that period of the previous year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has won 21 championships at 21 distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is particularly special," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six finals, including in that event previously this season.

His retrieving strategy and frequent outbursts on court had caused observers to question if his skill to compete at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to advance forward and play assertively, reinforced by an better serving game.

He came back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the final five games to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped service breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, took control to create a final set.

Moutet defended four initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner secured the win with a shot at the net, with his opponent failing to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
