Sam Fender has donated the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound award cash to the MVT, which functions to save the United Kingdom's grassroots music venues.

Fender was given the award on October 16 as his latest record his work was named the top album of the past year.

Fender has decided to hand the money over to the MVT, in appreciation of the crucial part small stages played in his early career.

"I personally would not have achieved what I am doing today if it wasn't for all the shows I did around the area, and elsewhere, when I was beginning," stated Fender. "These locations are iconic, but they are struggling."

Beginning in 2023, more than 150 of these spaces have permanently closed – about 16 percent of the entire UK sector.

Over the past year, top acts like Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the Music Venues Trust in its attempts to support the industry, by applying a minor surcharge to their ticket prices, which supports smaller concert halls.

He also took part, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to assist numerous grassroots venues across the UK.

The donation supported spaces that were dealing with possible closure due to difficulties caused by flooding, blazes and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, legal disputes and noise complaints.

Some locations were granted funding support in modernizing amenities and sound and lighting systems that positively impacted performers and concertgoers.

"The concept that revenue from shows in big venues helps the local stages, where it begins for performers like me, is just sensible," Fender has said.

Fender is not the first artist to give his honor winnings to charitable organizations.

In the band won the prize in the year 1996 for their album the album, lead singer Jarvis Cocker stated that the band would contribute their cash to the non-profit the charity.

In 2002, artist Ms Dynamite split her bounty among a few good causes, such as the NSPCC and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"And I contributed a £1,000 to the center, to their classes, because I practiced gymnastics when I was younger and they lacked better apparatus," she told the media.

Two years ago, the band contributed their winnings to the community center that supported their group, in addition to other independent music bodies.

Also 1994 winners M People contributed their winnings to a MS organization after a friend was found to have the condition.

"The victory was quite enough," remarked singer Heather Small. "The prize was the bonus but we didn't need the extra, because we had the cake. So our winning affected another person's life."

In the past week, the trust announced it had protected several local spots in south-east England, by transferring them to local control.

One venue in Southampton and The Croft in Bristol were acquired under the community ownership program, which is backed by a national body and enthusiasts who purchase "shares" in the buildings.
