Area Police
Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement state they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then found numerous other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials say early analysis suggest the liquid was probably human blood.
"There is still no indication as to its source; officials are currently not informed of any harm in connection with the incident," they added.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the community for tips.
An important representative said the incident left him without words and required to be addressed quickly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine people by a shooter targeting people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
